World of Warcraft (PC-MAC)

"A very good game, but it never managed to fully capture me enough for me to cap out (though I've played many hours of it over the years)."

4th Coming ()

"Can't say I even remember much about this game. I played it very briefly a long time ago to see what it was like."

Auto Assault (PC)

"Ah, I hate seeing games die, even if they used the wrong payment model and were almost destined to fail. Sad days."

City of Villains (PC)

"Like City of Heroes, only Villains! I gave it a run after having quit CoH well before CoV came out. Fun for a time, like the first, but it didn't capture me."

Lineage II (PC)

"An example of a game that I really wanted to get into for the PvP aspects, but found I had neither the time nor the motivation to advance much at all."

Shadowbane (PC-MAC)

"I was a nearly invincible force known only as Ishap of Iniquity. Give me a game I can exploit and I will, but so will everyone else, and that will often ruin the game."

Server: Dread

Guild: Iniquity

Characters:

Ishap, — Yep, that was me. The guy who could only be hit by 1-3 players on the server and who could switch to offensive mode and dish out 600 dmg per cast.

Sword of the New World: Granado Espada (PC)

"Good graphics, decent gameplay, and the advancement didn't make my brain die. For some reason, though, I found that I couldn't get into the multi-character party thing as much as just one."

Vanguard: Saga of Heroes (PC)

"I don't have much to say about it, except that it has a lot of pieces that could make a great game, they just didn't quite come together."

Puzzle Pirates (PC-MAC)

"A really fun little game. I recommend everyone at least try it out."

Pirates of the Burning Sea (PC)

"Well, it's pirates. That's the important piece. Unfortunately, everyone I know is on the same server but is not a Pirate (like me), and I haven't had the balls to reroll."

Server: Rackham

Entropia Universe (PC)

"An interesting concept and possible escape from the strangeness that is Second Life, but it wasn't easy to have fun in this game."

Last Chaos (PC)

"Not a bad game, but very Eastern flavored and I'm more of a Westerner. I did have a cute wyvern pet though. ;)"

Meridian 59 (PC)

"Ah, the old school. I didn't play this too much because I started playing The Realm, but it was actually pretty fun."

Second Life (PC)

"Ever since Snow Crash I've been obsessed with the idea of a virtual world. When I heard about Second Life for the first time, I got pretty excited. I tried it, I didn't like it at all. I tried it again, and it was full of sex and furries and random"

Star Wars Galaxies (PC)

"Unfortunately I only tried this post-NGE, so I'm not sure what it was like "back in the day.""

Archlord (PC)

"Poorly executed and not terribly fun at all."

Screen Names: Blackguard
Asheron's Call (PC)

"Fun but I didn't make it through its original growing pains (read: the Blood clan taking over the world)"

Server: Darktide

Asheron's Call 2 (PC)

"Some of my greatest online memories came from AC2 with my allegiance. A fun game and I was sad to see it go."

Screen Names: Blackguard, Lug the Wrench
City of Heroes (PC)

"Fun for a short time, but it grew repetitive."

Screen Names: Digerati
Dark Age of Camelot (PC)

"This was a fun game for a while, but the RvR imbalances drove me away."

Server: Iseult

Screen Names: Argyle, Drakahn, Blackguard, others
Dungeons and Dragons Online (PC)

"Too much grouping. I like to solo."

Earth and Beyond (PC)

"The space stuff was okay, the multiple experience concept was cool, but I could never identify with my avatar."

EVE: Online (PC-MAC)

"I was never able to get into it for some reason."

Everquest (PC)

"One of the most fun online experiences ever. A wonderfully deep and involved world."

Server: Mithaniel Marr

Screen Names: Dyamirr, Daemirr, Guviena, many others...
Everquest II (PC)

"The game I worked on, therefore I had to love it. Any of my opinions here are invalid because it was my baby."

Server: Various

Screen Names: Blackguard, a bunch of others.
Final Fantasy XI Online (PC)

"Fun but certain classes were a huge pain to get groups with, which I happened to play. The inability to get groups drove me away (coupled with the inability to solo)."

Screen Names: Blackguard
Guild Wars (PC)

"Great fun for a while but I got pissed at the ascension (I think) quest to get to 20 because the nemesis was broken for rangers or mesmers or both (whatever I was)"

Screen Names: Blackguard
Horizons ()

"Don't get me started about the biggest failure of expectations ever..."

Screen Names: Dyamirr
Lineage (PC)

"Too hardcore for me."

Lord of the Rings Online (PC)

"I was in a great guild, but the repetitive boar and bear killing destroyed me."

PlanetSide (PC)

"Totally awesome fun for a good while. Got bored of the repetition after a while and with imbalances."

Server: Konried

Guild: Pirate Ninjas

Screen Names: Wolfguard
Ragnarok Online (PC)

"Cute and fun but I got over it pretty quickly."

Realm Online (PC)

"Tons of fun... my first experience in the online space."

Toontown Online (PC)

"I liked fishing and the other little games. It was a little too kid-focused for me."

Ultima Online (PC)

"One of my favorite experiences of all time until it got "carebear" (read: I was no longer the only one having fun)"

Server: Various

Characters:

Derkesthai, — Atlantic and Chesapeake, primarily.
